The beach…and a memorial.
I guess it really isn’t that surprising that I have lived in Florida my whole life…and never seen snow. I tell people that, and there seems to be a feeling of understanding.
However, what makes no sense what-so-ever…is the fact that I have lived in Florida my whole life, and as of a few nights ago…I have been to the beach four times.
Four.
Pretty odd eh? At any rate I made the decision to go to Daytona Beach at like 10:30 at night…got there around midnight…and just chilled on the beach for a while…and while I was there…made the decision that I need to go there more often.
It was such a serene environment, and really gave me a chance to clear my thoughts and leave with a level head.
To top things off…I saw a shooting star that lasted about 15 seconds…it was…in a word…DOPE.
And the clearing of thoughts from my head was a good thing…’cause as of late, I’ve got tons and tons of new stuff to cram in there…HOORAY FOR NEW JOBS!
So my first OFFICIAL day at Home Depot…in my store (#8447) in Lady Lake…was…well, not spent in the store! I spent the first few hours meeting people and shadowing Eddie…the guy I am replacing as Hardware Supervisor…and then, at nine o’clock, the entire Supervisor team and our store manager went out to a “Team Depot” event…which basically is our program name for helping within the community.
Anyway, we went to Sunshine Trailer Park, a community that was literally devastated by the tornado that hit Lady Lake last February. When we got there, we helped to build a memorial for the victims of the storm…we laid pavers , cemented an arbor in place underneath the pavers, and put together a fountain. The rest of the project is going to be finished by the owner of the park…it was pretty much the coolest thing I have done at work.
I spent years at Circuit City and heard them preach every single year about how we were going to become more involved with the community, and become a figure and example for what is good and right….and none of those visions ever came to fruition.
In less than 8 hours of being employed with Home Depot…we did more than was ever done in my time at Circuit City…
I’ve said it before…and now again…I am going to LOVE working here.

I LOVE the beach. We should all get together and go one night. I totally agree, It clears your head and is sooo relaxing. And its good to hear your lovin your new job..
